The whys about Customs!

Everyone of my friends, at one point or the other has definitely complained and asked this question, why are there so many customs? Some of them are tired of customs to be followed after marriage, some of them are tired of customs to be followed for house warming ceremony, some of them are simply tired of customs followed on every function in their house.

So i started wondering, who makes these customs? Why actually these customs are there? Many a times people who follow the customs have to just do it from the force of the society but still these customs remain as a permanent thing in the society. Over the many years of civilization, while the changes have happened in various things, customs do have changed but they are still present in the society. So how are these customs remaining there even after so many years of civilization.

While wondering on those lines, i realized why do some one follow the customs, why do my parents follow the customs and what happens if they don't follow them.

So the answer that i get is, they get appreciation from their circle of intereaction when they follow the customs and they feel respected in the society. If say your parents do not follow the customs they feel people are gonna think bad about them.

So further doing the microscopic analysis of what are customs, customs are just a code of conduct defined by the society. In other words customs are nothing but the acceptable code of conduct. If you follow the customs your behaviour is respected by the society. So this makes me think that customs are the result of the basic need of human beings to get appreciation from others.

Next question comes, why is this need so important, why do I need to get appreciation from others. Why do i even care what others think of me. Why shouldn't i just live the way i like to live, so we are just asking the main question of the blog, why do we need customs?

The answer according to me lies in the fact that, if everyone started doing what they feel is right without bothering about others, then someone might even kill someone coz the person according to them is bad and worth killing. This killer would say i don't care about what you think of me, according to me this person is worth killing.
